    SUGGESTED SERVICE

We have been invited by xxx and xxx, to share this very special occasion with them, today, for they have chosen to become partners in a legal and binding marriage, committing themselves to a wonderful life together. On their behalf, I warmly welcome you here, to witness and support this loving and solemn union.

I enjoy those words of Homer, the poet, “There is nothing nobler or more admirable, than when two people who see eye to eye, keep house as man and wife, confounding their enemies and delighting their friends.”

I am Rosemary Arnold, a civil celebrant, duly authorised by the law to solemnize your marriage, according to the laws of Australia.

I am bound to remind you of the solemn, the serious and the binding nature of the relationship into which you are about to embark.

Marriage is the voluntary and full commitment of a man to a woman, and of a woman to a man. It is made with the firm intention that it will last for life.

Reading: The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran (OPTIONAL/your choice)
“Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”

One of the strongest bonds in life, is that between the caring parents and a loving daughter, and it is on this rare occasion we acknowledge this relationship, as Soong takes this major step in responsibility. Who presents this woman to be married to this man? “?? do.” (optional)

The Asking: Will you, xxx, take xxx to be your lawful wedded wife? Will you love and respect her, be honest with her, stand by her through life’s challenges, and genuinely share your lives together? I will. Will you, xxx, take xxx … I will.

The Vows: I, xxx, take you, xxx, to be my wife and pledge to cherish you for the rest of our lives. I appreciate how you support me so lovingly in my interests and ambitions, and I dedicate myself to supporting you in the same loving manner. I, xxx, take you, xxx, to be my husband .....

The Rings: This ring is given to you as a gift, as my expression of love, of trust and with so much pride that we are married.

Declaration: Friends – xxx and xxx have declared before us all, their love and intention to live together in marriage. They have symbolised this by holding hands, exchanging vows, and by the giving of rings. I now declare them to be husband and wife, wife and husband. The kiss.

    The Signing:

Ladies and gentlemen, I now present to you, the married couple ... Mr & Mrs …...
